I want to welcome all of you to my Blog. I hope you all enjoy reading it at least as much as I enjoy writing it.
First, I might as well introduce myself. I call myself "Recovering Teacher," which begs the question: "What am I recovering from?" (or more gramatically correct: "From what am I recovering?") OK, so now we've established what I used to teach. As far as the "recovering" part, it isn't so much that I'm recovering from the role of teacher, just the activity of teaching. Maybe one day I will talk more about what influenced my decision, but for now let's just say that one day it "struck" me that maybe classroom teaching was not the direction I wanted to continue in life. But that hasn't stopped me from continuing to "teach" others. And that brings me to the title of my Blog: Let's Look at Life (don't you just love the alliteration).
For the last few years I've been doing a lot of reading and thinking (two activities that can be dangerous in the wrong hands), and I finally decided to start sharing my observations and conclusions with anyone who might be interested. I also plan to share some of these thoughts on two other sites I am developing: MyThoughtsonLife.com and MyThoughtsAboutLife.com. At the present moment (as I write this entry) the other sites are still under construction, but I expect to have them up and running fairly soon. But, onward to my first set of thoughts...
There has been a lot of talk lately about the book and video "The Secret" and numerous related books, web sites, etc. Some people refer to the "Law of Attraction," some to "quantum physics," some to the "power of the universe," others to "spirituality," and so on. From my point of view, we are really talking about one main idea: that what we think and how we look at the world have a big influence on how our lives go. It's these related ideas that I'm going to blog about in part (but I do reserve the right to talk about other topics when the mood strikes me).
Well, this is where it starts, and we shall see where it all leads. I welcome constructive comments, but if all you want to do is complain, I would prefer that you find a negative-themed blog for that. Let's try to keep this positive as much as possible - and if we can help someone out there with their concerns, that's what it's all about.
